Today I want to share some Summer family photo outfit inspiration with you (even though we are already halfway through July)! These five families did sessions with me last summer and I had to share their style choices with you because they were all so good!

Summer family photo outfit inspiration, family of five dressed in neutrals, dusty blues, and white.

Blues, Neutrals, and White

This family is the perfect example of how I like to pick one main outfit, like mom’s dress in this example, and compliment with other subtle patterns (like the little boys’ shirts), one solid like dad’s outfit of a cream shirt and grey/blue pants, with touches of light browns and beiges in the accessories.

Shop Mom’s Outfit: I found mom’s gorgeous Knox Rose Wrap Dress on Poshmark, but then I found this equally amazing blue wrap dress on Amazon which would also be a beautiful option.

Bright, Loud, and Summery

Ok, so I USUALLLLLYYYY tend to steer people away from too many loud patterns, however, in this case, I am obsessed. Mom’s dress was perfect for this neutral studio space, and each one of her family members wore a complimentary outfit from colors within her patterned dress. It was a fun and unique choice and I LOVE this, especially for a postpartum mama.

Shop Their Outfits: I love that mom’s dress can be worn with the sleeves up like she has them or even off the shoulder for a totally different look. I also found a few other style options on Amazon with a similar pattern, like this wrap dress or this v-neck option. I can’t find sweet Alice’s exact outfit, but this romper is similar but also love this cute rust-colored short romper option as well. The cute outfit on Baby Wally is this steel blue waffle knit outfit with a personalized hat from Etsy! you can find similar options from all kinds of shops, but I love that his outfit brought in a pop of texture to the outfit combos.

Maroons, Pinks, and Neutrals

When you still want to incorporate a “red” color into your photos, dark reds like burgundy are a great option to build off of! Mixing in patterns like mom’s skirt is a great way to start the outfit selection process then fill it with complimentary colors in darks dad’s shirt and lights (the boys’ shirts). This can also be a great fall color palette pairing with a different style of clothes and more layers!

Shop Their Outfits: I absolutely love mom’s wrap skirt and the pairing of the yellow platform sandals gives a perfect pop of color. Mom’s Old Navy bodysuit is also so pretty and casually cute paired with that skirt, so I found a similar version on Amazon or this ribbed short-sleeve option! If you don’t already own at least one bodysuit, I suggest you invest because they are so flattering on all body types in my opinion!

Pastel Primary Colors

This family built their outfit combinations off of baby girl’s sweet romper, which I love. I also am obsessed with the pop of color from the yellow dress. Adding in muted primary colors like pink or powder blue are also perfect, with patterns coming in from the little boy’s plaid shirt and textures coming in from that sweet pink dress. Light colors also help with keeping the photos from being too heavy and contrasty so the khaki pants look really great with these light colors.

Shop Their Outfits:

You can find baby girl’s floral romper here or here are a bunch of wonderful options! The yellow dress was out of stock but I found an alternative with several color options that would be beautiful! The cute little pink lace dress also comes in white and the blue linen dress comes in several cute colors as well. Highly recommend! This little boy’s shirt is from Target but I found a cute linen button-up option with a few colorways that might be on your radar!

Blues and Greens for the win!

This family always has great outfits, I think I used them in my other Family Photo inspo post a few years ago! I love how they kept things simple yet exciting when it came to the textures and patterns of their outfits. They were a part of a larger extended family session with 3 other families, and they all coordinated so beautifully together (I will have to do a dedicated post to Extended Family outfits one day).

Shop Their Outfits:

Mom’s dress is SO cute except I cannot find it anywherrrreeee so I found these beautiful floral wrap dresses that would be a gorgeous alternative. The oldest boy’s cute plaid shirt is similar to this option I found and the blue spaghetti stress dress is from Gap, but here is a similar option! I am trying to find their oldest daughter’s dress so I will keep you all posted once I get those details.

I hope this was helpful and inspiring when it comes to planning your own family photos for this summer!
